Communications Division




The Communications Division is a twenty-four hour, seven days a week operation currently operating with three shifts. Each shift is staffed with five dispatchers and one civilian supervisor. The shifts are eight hours and each dispatcher works a five-day workweek. The shifts are A-0630-1430, B-1430-2230, and C-2230-0630. The primary functions of this area are:

  • Receiving and disseminating calls from public for service
  • Dispatching Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office personnel, volunteer fire departments, medical personnel, coroner, and for the Office of Emergency Management
  • Enter data in CAD system from start until disposition of calls
  • Computer inquiries into ACIC/NCIC when requested by sheriff’s deputies
  • Entering and deleting stolen property, vehicles, warrants served and missing persons into ACIC/NCIC
  • Completing incident reports
  • Working with the Office of Emergency Management and Arkansas Department of Emergency Management monitoring and issuing emergency notifications
  • Maintaining Order of Protection files
  • Verifying arrest warrants
  • Maintaining recorded radio transmissions and providing copies of such when requested per departmental policy (supervisory responsibility)
